The Best Places For Outdoor Dining in Woodstock

It’s al fresco season and Woodstock has no shortage of options for outdoor dining. Whether you’re looking for riverside ambience, rolling hills, mountain top views or patio seating you’ll find something for everyone in Woodstock, VT. 

From coffee and pastries to cocktails and dinner, we’ve rounded up all the best spots in and around Woodstock for dining outdoors this summer. Bon appetit! 

Breakfast and Lunch

Mon Vert

Dine al fresco on the welcoming patio at Mon Vert Cafe. Grab a coffee, breakfast, pastries or lunch and enjoy people watching, and the sweetness of the Woodstock Village. Open Friday-Wednesday 7:30am-5pm. Live music on Sundays from 12-2pm.

Soulfully Good

Soulfully Good Cafe is another delicious spot to enjoy outdoor seating for breakfast and lunch. Enjoy a cozy atmosphere, freshly brewed coffee and tea, and yummy breakfast, lunch and pastry options. Open Wednesday-Saturday 8am-3:30pm and Sunday-Monday 9am-2pm.

Abracadabra

Just a short drive from the village, Abracadabra serves up delicious coffee and pastries in their '64 Shasta Trailer. Abracadabra is a specialty coffee roaster with seasonal signature drinks, house made syrups, liége waffles, donuts and canelés. Outside there’s tons of picnic tables and umbrellas to bask in the warm sunlight with gorgeous hillside views. Open Mon-Fri, 8am-2pm and Sat-Sun, 8am-3pm. 

Woodstock Scoops

Grab a famous Vermont maple creemee or ready made sandwiches and snacks from Woodstock Scoops and enjoy a picnic on the Green or down by the river next to R.T. Home which provides a nice shady spot to relax. 

The White Cottage Snack Bar

White Cottage is a family-friendly casual restaurant in Woodstock. Located just a few minutes outside of town it’s got all the fried food, burgers, seafood, salad and ice cream options your heart desires. Enjoy your meal in the swinging booths or at the picnic tables down by the river. The shallow water makes for a great dip on hot days with little ones. Be sure to pack swimsuits, water shoes and towels! Open daily 11 am-10 pm.

Mountain Creamery

Just 5 minutes outside of the Woodstock Village is the Mountain Creamery (next to the Sleep Woodstock Motel) an excellent farm-to-table diner with breakfast, lunch and ice cream options. Order your food to go and enjoy it out on the picnic tables overlooking the Ottauquechee River. Don’t forget to hit up the ice cream window for some of their delicious homemade ice cream.

The Village Butcher 

Order delicious sandwiches made with local ingredients along with other goodies like salads and daily specials from The Village Butcher. Eat at one of their sidewalk tables or bring your food down behind the History Center for a beautiful riverside picnic. This spot is often quiet and peaceful, the perfect place to enjoy lunch.

Barnard General Store

Headed to Silver Lake? Stop by the Barnard General Store for breakfast sandwiches or lunch options to enjoy by the lake. There are picnic tables across from the General Store or head to the main entrance of Silver Lake State Park just up the road. 

Parks and Hikes

Grab sandwiches to go from the Woodstock Farmers Market and have a picnic at one of the beautiful public parks including Faulkner Park or the Village Green. If you’re up for an adventure, hike Mt. Peg or Mt. Tom, and enjoy your lunch with a mountain top view.

Dinner and Drinks 

Au Comptoir

Sit riverside at Au Comptoir with delicious craft cocktails and small bites. The beautifully designed patio has the feel of a quaint streetside European bar with elegant bistro seating. Open Wednesday-Monday, 3-10pm (open at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday). 

Prince and the Pauper

Prince and the Pauper has a beautiful patio for dining al fresco during the warmer months. The Prince and the Pauper is located centrally on Elm Street with delicious, global fare in an elegant, yet relaxed environment. The patio provides beautiful street and river views. Open Tuesday-Saturday 5-8pm.

Ransom Tavern

Located about 10 minutes outside of the village is Ransom Tavern in South Woodstock. Enjoy Neapolitan style pizza, vegetarian dishes, excellent craft cocktails and dine amongst their gorgeous gardens and farmhouse porch.

Santé

Sante provides another streetside patio that is perfect for people watching and enjoying the warm nights of Vermont summers. With dishes sourced from local ingredients you can’t go wrong at Santé. Don’t miss their amazing craft cocktails. Santé is open for dinner Tuesday-Saturday from 5-8:30pm and for lunch Thursday-Saturday 11am-3pm.

Melazza Bistro

Melazza is a Caribbean restaurant with delicious tapas and entrees. Enjoy outdoor patio dining on the east end of the village. Open Friday-Monday, 5:30-8:30 pm. 

Worthy Kitchen

Worthy Kitchen is conveniently located within minutes of the village. This casual, family-friendly spot features farm-to-table food and a wide variety of craft beers. Enjoy outdoor dining on the porch with a lively scene. Open Thursday, Friday 4-9pm and Saturday, Sunday 11:30am-9pm.

Cloudland Farms

Cloudland Farms is one of the most beautiful places to dine outdoors during Vermont summers. Overlooking the green mountains of Vermont, enjoy farm-to-table cuisine with seasonal menus. Make sure to call ahead for a reservation. 

Richardson’s Tavern

Hot summer nights are perfect on the Richardson Tavern porch with shade and breezes to stay cool. Enjoy classics like mussels, oysters, burgers and more. Open Friday-Monday 5-9pm.

Ottauquechee Yacht Club

Ottauquechee Yacht Club is a fun place to enjoy a drink and small bites outdoors. Enjoy tacos, cocktails and draft beers in a fun atmosphere with live music happening weekly. Open Thursday-Monday 12-9pm (Friday and Saturday until 10pm).
