The Upper Valley is a fisherman’s paradise. Stay close to town and cast your reel in the Woodstock area’s Ottauquechee River, take a boat out on the placid waters of Barnard’s Silver Lake, enjoy the privacy of The Meccawe Club (no license required) or even wade into the Connecticut River – either way, you’ll catch fabulous autumnal foliage and maybe even a fish or two! But be sure to buy your fishing license before embarking on your trip.
Want a ladies-only experience? Then reserve your spot at She Casts, a women's fly fishing weekend September 28-29, 2019 helmed by resident guide, Chandra Anderson and an Orvis-endorsed team that'll take you to scenic Suicide Six and surrounding waters at the peak of fall foliage.

Or to set your own downhill pace, get the dirt on Suicide Six Bike Park, open most weekends through mid-October, then head on over to our list of 5 essential mountain biking spots.
