How many birds can be seen in one day? That’s the question that drives a ‘big day,’ a 24-hour birding binge that is a fond tradition among naturalists. On May 5, VINS will join more than 20,000 others and become a part of the Global Big Day! Excited birders all over the world contribute by counting species in their local area, and last year’s Day set a new record, with 6,637 species! We’re planning to improve on that number this year, and you can be a part of it! Visit the VINS Nature Center; enjoy a solo walk or get some friends to join in the fun. And no matter what you do, have fun, enjoy the birds you find, and share your sightings on eBird. Because in our world, every bird counts.

NestWatch Workshop / 2:30 PM

Come to VINS to learn about NestWatch, a citizen science project run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and help study nesting birds in your own backyard in your free time!
