Leslie Stroud, flute and Matthew Odell, piano, perform five sonatas illustrating the intriguing intersection of old and new relationships—culturally, geographically and musically. Three living composers representing several of our oldest New World cites, Boston, Philadelphia and New York City, alongside two of our most beloved and influential Old World composers, Felix Mendelssohn and Gabriel Fauré.

Mendelssohn: Sonata in F Minor, Op 4 (1825) “Adieu à Berlin”

Amlin: Sonata No. 2 (2004)

Schocker: Sonata No. 9 (2017)

Boyle: Sonata-Cantelina, Op. 21 (2009)

Faure: Sonata No. 1 in A Major, Op. 13 (1875/76), arr. for flute and piano
